Actor, Vocalist, Dancer, Voiceover Artist
Alaina Wis is a bright and versatile singing actress and voiceover artist. With vitality and warmth, she is committed to bringing thoughtfulness and new life to every role. She is an instinctive musician who tackles music with precision and possibility. Alaina approaches her work with great specificity and is committed to a strong work ethic. She is a thorough and gentle collaborator who listens deeply and inspires trust and connection. Alaina loves taking an audience by surprise, because she knows that means that they are right there with her. She thrives in a “yes, and” environment and values respect, investment, and openness in her collaborators.
As the daughter of two accomplished music educators in Chicago, Alaina was drawn to the arts from a young age. Encouraged by her parents and mentors, she moved to Philadelphia after graduating high school, to pursue her BFA in Musical Theatre at The University of the Arts.
While at UArts, Alaina was afforded many opportunities to grow as an artist and as an individual. Among them was the chance to headline Kiss Me, Kate in the historic Merriam Theatre (formerly The Sam S. Shubert Theatre), where the musical first premiered before transferring to Broadway in 1948. She also appeared as Daisy Hilton in Side Show and as Thea in Spring Awakening.
After graduating, Alaina returned to Chicago to launch her stage and voiceover career, where she worked on the Chicago premieres of two musicals, appeared in Metropolis Performing Arts Centre's annual production of A Christmas Carol as Belle/Katherine, and lent her voice to commercials, radio spots, smartphone apps, jingles, and an audiobook.
In April of 2016, Alaina moved to Hong Kong to fulfill her dream of becoming a Full-Time Principal Vocalist with The Walt Disney Company. There, she joined the cast of the mainstage musical Mickey and the Wondrous Book in its opening year. In the Broadway-style show, she had the privilege of headlining in three distinct roles. Alaina was also selected to represent the Company in special events as a vocalist and an emcee. She completed four contracts with the Company before returning to her home base in Chicago.
After moving back to the States, Alaina filmed an on-camera commercial series for Clorox, made her voiceover business her day job (check it out here), originated the female lead in Rumpelstiltskin at the Pheasant Run Resort, and returned to Williams Street Rep (Emma! a pop musical, The Addams Family) and Metropolis (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum). Her next project will be announced shortly!
Alaina has been fortunate enough to visit 15 countries and (quite literally) expand her horizons. She is enjoying each day of being a Boss Lady, practicing yoga & gratitude, and traveling the world.
